(Re)Member Together

(Re)Member Together

Starting this October, we’re launching something new and exciting: (Re)Member Together, a shared ministry with our friends at St. Michael Lutheran Church. I can’t wait to tell you why I’m so excited about this:

For almost five years as your pastor, I’ve dreamed of partnering more closely with St. Michael. I believe the future of the church is rooted in collaboration—not because we “have to” work together, but because that’s who we are as the church. From the very beginning, the church has been a community of people following Jesus together, for the sake of the world.

And honestly, it just makes sense. Emmanuel helped start St. Michael back in 1964, and while we’ve sometimes drifted into “doing our own thing,” we’ve always been connected. Now, we’re stepping back into that partnership in a fresh and meaningful way.

Here’s what it looks like: twice a month, we’ll spend time with the residents of the memory care unit at the Meridian Center on Elm Street. We’ll laugh, play games, sing songs, share stories, and simply be present—reminding our neighbors that they are loved by God and by us. And as we do, we’ll also be reminded of who we are: one church, one community, called to love together.

That’s why the name (Re)Member Together fits so well. Yes, it’s a bit of wordplay on “memory” and the ministry we’ll be doing in memory care, but it’s deeper than that. Every time we gather around the Lord’s Table as the church, we don’t just “remember” Jesus’ meal—we’re re-membered, knit back together as one body. In this ministry, we will help those who struggle with memory loss feel reconnected to community. And at the same time, our two congregations are being re-membered into the bigger picture of what God is doing in High Point and the world.

I’m excited—really excited—to see what God has in store as we step into this together.

Here’s your invitation: join us on a second or fourth Wednesday from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. Come once, come often—whatever works for you. We have leaders who will guide our time together, so we just ask that you show up with a smile, eager to help. We think once you come, you’ll want to be part of it again. If you’d like to join us, just let us know and we’ll get you connected.

Together, let’s live into the truth that we are church together—and let’s live out God’s love in a way that makes a real difference.

Peace,

Pastor Ethan
