Elected Council: The congregation elects 12 members to serve on a council. Council members serve three-year terms, and act as liaisons to the ministries.
Rev. Ethan Overcash: Pastor – Pastor Ethan has been with us since October of 2020. He comes to us a new pastor, having most recently completed time in interim ministry while awaiting his first call as a pastor. He received a Master of Divinity degree from the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary of Lenoir-Rhyne University in Columbia, SC in 2018 and a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies, with a concentration in Youth and Family Ministry, from Lenoir-Rhyne University in 2013. Pastor Ethan comes to us with children, youth, and family ministry experience in multiple congregations. In his free time he enjoys social gatherings, board games, watching sports, woodworking, and spending time with his wife and two dogs.
Jacqueline Canter, Co-Minister of Music for Choirs – Jacqueline earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in voice performance and music education at East Carolina University. She has performed in a variety of operatic and musical theatre roles, and has served as an artistic director, music director, actress, featured soprano soloist, and recitalist. In addition, she taught music in public schools in both Greene and Burke counties.
In addition to her responsibilities at Emmanuel, Ms. Canter is currently a member of the voice faculties at High Point University and Greensboro College.
Ford Ewaldsen, Co-Minister of Music for Organ & Piano – Ford earned a BA in Music with concentration in organ from Newberry College, Newberry, SC and a MSM (Master of Sacred Music) from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. He has been an organist and choir director for the past 38 years serving in both Lutheran and Methodist churches in the High Point area. He has also accompanied local artists in the Piedmont Artist Concert series in High Point and is a member of the American Guild of Organists. He is also a member of The Association of Lutheran Church Musicians.
Amy Vitola, Office Administrator – Amy has been our Office Administrator since March 2013. Her favorite part of the job is interacting with everyone who comes through our doors throughout the week. When she is not working at Emmanuel, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children. When the weather is nice, you can find her outside working on landscaping and the vegetable garden. She always looks forward to supporting and cheering on her kids in their endeavors.
