Community Partners

Community Partners

We live out God’s love by engaging with our local community of High Point where God has called us to serve. We do this by pursuing partner relationships with organizations and other congregations because we believe we can do more together.

We are a proud Business High Point member organization, our city’s Chamber of Commerce. By being a part of this organization of local businesses and nonprofits, we are better able to connect with and be a meaningful part of this community that God has called us to serve.

CIS of High Point’s mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. We partner with CIS of High Point to support the children of our community in various ways. We are also the proud home of the “School Resource Room,” which provides all High Point public school students with clothes, footwear, hygiene items, food, and more to succeed and thrive as the people God made them to be.

High Point Schools Partnership believes that “great communities have great schools.” Therefore, they seek to establish partnerships between the community of High Point and schools. As a partner with multiple schools, we have been featured at High Point Schools Partnership events and continue championing other congregations to experience the joy of school partnership.

Meals on Wheels

Many local seniors are homebound and struggle to obtain healthy meals. The Meals on Wheels Program delivers a nutritious noontime meal to homebound senior adults aged 60 and over. The food and visit help these seniors stay healthy and independent longer. We partner with Meals on Wheels to deliver meals once a month, joining dozens of other organizations and countless volunteers to feed our seniors in High Point.

Minister’s Conference of High Point and Vicinity

The Ministers Conference brings together clergy from across our city and surrounding areas to share in support, exchange ideas, and work to be the church together for our community of High Point. The Ministers Conference provides the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast and Oratorical Contest, where high school students from our schools can share inspirational speeches and compete for scholarships.

Northwood Elementary School

Through our existing partnership with Communities in Schools of High Point, we partner with Northwood, our neighborhood elementary school, to support staff and students. We support public education as a means of providing just opportunities for all to thrive in community. Our partnership currently includes funding book fair vouchers for all students who need them as a way of supporting reading education, and we join with other congregations as the “Northwood Faith Partners” to support teachers and staff all year long.

Open Door Ministries

Open Door Ministries seeks “to serve, empower, and minister to guests to prevent and end hunger and homelessness through advocacy, education, housing, and coordination of services.” We support Open Door Ministries by collecting food and supplies for their distribution and serving a monthly hot meal.

Sylvia Mendez Newcomers School

Students who have recently immigrated from other countries attend a newcomer school for one to two semesters to provide them specific support in transitioning to a new educational system, learning English, and other care to ensure they can succeed in their assigned schools. With a long history of supporting refugees and our recent history of supporting schools, we discerned God calling us to action when Sylvia Newcomers opened. We currently work with the social worker on staff to provide incentives for attendance so that all students are in school and can learn and succeed.

Triad Pride Performing Arts

Triad Pride Performing Arts consists of LGBTQ and their allies, who perform to entertain, enlighten, and enrich while promoting equality and social justice for all people regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity–fostering pride, understanding, and acceptance. We partner with Triad Pride Performing Arts by being one of their annual sponsors and providing the High Point venue for spring and winter chorus concerts.
